About Foxconn

The Foxconn company is the largest provider of electronics manufacturing services. Today, they operate as a multinational electronics contract manufacturing and is the fourth-largest information technology company by revenue. Established in 1974 by Terry Gou, then Hon Hair Precision Industry Company experienced its first milestone in 2001 when it was selected to manufacture Intel branded motherboards. Foxconn was able to further expand in 2007 when plans were made to build a $500 million plant in Huizhou. By 2012, the company was making about 40% of consumer products worldwide. In March 2012, the company acquired a 10% stake in Sharp corporation for $806 million. That same year, they announced $494 million to be put in the construction of five new factories in Brazil. In 2013, Foxconn was ranked the first among 1000 Taiwanese Enterprises and has been achieving top results for the following years. Foxconn purchased Asia Pacific Telecom in 2014 and acquired spectrum licenses that enabled 4G telecommunications systems in Taiwan. Foxconn has made significant purchases and acquisitions including Tencent and Harmony New England Auto, and Belkin.
